Fan Family Foundation Dare to Dream Workshop Series Nonprofit New York Pathway to College and Careers

Dare To Dream Workshop Series

The opportunity for students from inner city communities to speak with experts and professionals from industry can be limited. We’ve always found that when you see someone who comes from a background like yours, it’s inspiring to see the possibilities of your own future. We had that ourselves, and we’re humbled to share this with our students. Our Dare To Dream exposure series gives students a chance to pick the brains of some of the most prominent folks within the media, technology, and entertainment industry. Our intimate round table discussions are the perfect way for students to hear from people in industries such as film, fashion, music, technology, television, and e-sports gaming. Our Dare to Dream series has introduced students to the inner workings of companies such as Roc Nation, Atlantic Records, Unanimous Games, Brownstone Financial Group, and more.

Fan Family Foundation College Readiness Program Nonprofit New York Pathway to College and Careers

College Readiness Program

Schools within the communities we work with are overwhelmed and underfunded, leaving many students unprepared for higher education. Specifically at four-year colleges, minority student enrollment rates remain significantly lower than students coming from other backgrounds. The earlier that students from our communities are exposed to the benefits of college, the more likely they are to stay on a college-bound pathway. We believe that it is never too early to have the conversation about college. Our college readiness program is specifically designed for middle-school students in mind so that students have the opportunity to plan the steps that will get them through high school and into the college of their choice.

Fan Family Foundation Annual College Tours Nonprofit New York Pathway to College and Careers

Annual College Tours

Many students from our communities don't believe that college is an option. In order to change that damaging (and incorrect) perception, we coordinate annual campus visits to Historically Black Colleges and Universities, as well as Ivy League institutions and elite public universities. Our trips give middle school students a first-hand view of the college experience through campus tours, in addition to intimate interactions with students and faculty. Our college tours provide invaluable insights for both parents and students into the application process and a respective college’s culture before making of one of the biggest choices a family will ever need to make together.
